JUDGES CRITIQUE

Many thanks to my two super efficient stewards. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and the usual Northern hospitality. When it came to the Challenge, I have to admit I was spoilt for choice.

Veteran 7 (5 absent)

1. Phrenchy Double Base at Norcrest. Ten year old blen. nice type, well made with good topling and tail set.

2. Oakley's - Brasingamen the Celt. Seven year old B/T well balanced, nice neck and shoulders, a little heavier in the head than winner.

Minor Puppy 12 (3 absent)

1. Allerton's - Cazarrah Tennyson. Caught my eye at once, classic type, nice make and shape. Just loved his head, sweet and masculine with good length of muzzle, plenty of coat and what a super little back end.

2. Hughes - Lorankar's Dare to Dream. Another puppy of outstanding quality, very little chose between these two, winner had more furnishings.

3. Williams - Johnasta Anton-du-Beke.

Puppy 20 (6 absent)

1. Inglis - Craigowl Ryton. Very stylish tri, nice type with very pleasing head and expression. I likes his size, good ribs and good bone. Everything well balanced and in proportion. On the decision of the referee a worthy Best Puppy in Show.

2. Gardiner & Dansage - Edonhill Blaze Away. A glamour boy, very eye catching. Good dark eye and sweet expression but not the length of muzzle of winner. Soundly constructed with good neck and shoulders.

3. Brooks - Moonvale Augustus.

Junior 12 (2 absent

1. Banks - Pamedna Cotton Sox. Very attractive dog, good silky coat with rich chestnut markings. Generous masculine head, nice size with good bone and spring of rib. Well presented.

2. Hedger's Khatibi Tiger Tim at Alrewic. Similar type and size, well balanced and everything in proportion. Masculine well shaped head with good expression.

3. Boardman's - Volney Gazpacho.

Novice 17 (6 absent)

1. Costello's - Bevelmount Barricello. Very striking richly marked blen. beautifully presented, stood fout square and moved well. Lovely type, well make with good strong bone and substance.

2. Mynott's - Honeybet My Way. Another nicely made exhibit. Pleasing head, good spring of rib and heart room. Well angulated hind quarters and a correct tail set. Moved well.

3. Shone's - Cobaatino Candyman.

Graduate 13 (4 absent)

1. Town's - Barsan Sadler's Wells. Particularly appealing head well shaped with sweet gentle expression. Likes his size and style. So well constructed, good spring of rib and heart room. Unfortunately this was mostly hidden by his tremendous coat! Moved positively with good topline, beautifully presented, really made the most of himself. Am sure he is going places.

2. Gillhespy's - Lorphil Lyphard. Another exhibit with quality and breed type. Good head carriage and topline, nicely made and moved freely, he lacked the animation of the winner, but by now the heat was getting to a lot of us!

3. Li's - Avalcier Manhattan.

Post Graduate 21 (3 absent)

1. Morgan's - Cleocath Carregddu of Sohanastar. Smart little B/T, caught my eye with such a nice outline on the move and he stood four square. Not a strong head, but well shaped and sweet expression. Neck well set with good topline and good angulation. Well presented.

2. Lymer & Scheidt's - Lymrey Hi Class. Good breed type, so well constructed with strong positive hind movement. Pleasing masculine head well carried. Not the presentation of winner.

3. Hughes - Loranka's Party Games.

Limit 18 (1 absent)

1. Claydon's - Brymarden Montana. A really sound well constructed dog. Very masculine without being heavy or course. Well bodied with good ribs and well angulated hindquarters. Nice outline on the move, appealing head with good dark eye.

2. Allerton's - Kavacay Magic Dream at Deeriem. Another of classic type, typical of this kennel. Very well constructed, moved well with goo head and tail carriage. Lacked the joie de vivre of winner.

3. Costello's - Beauella Radzinski.

Special Open B/T 10 (2 absent)

1. Cleocath Carregddu of Sohanaster.

2. Mochrie's - Chamanic Voltaire at Downsbank. Very appealing masculine head with the sweetest of expressions. Nice size and proportions with good moderate bone.

3. Salisbury's - Clopsville Jimmy Bean.

Special Open Ruby 6 (2 absent)

1. North's - Jalesto Now I'm Here.

2. Lunam's - Malanis Mystic Moments.

3. Bailey's - Aldoricka Uriah.

Special Open Blenheim 8 (2 absent)

1. Ackroyd-Gibson's - Acewall Enigma From Toraylac. Stood out in this class. Pleasing masculine head, not over done. Very nicely made, everything in proportion. Plenty of substance, moved well and well presented.

2. Egan's - Robrook Lewis Carol. Very glamourous little dog, dripping in coat. Very nice size with good bone and spring of rib giving plenty of heart room. Moved gaily.

3. Korn's - Sandusk Monterey.

Special Open Tricolour 12 (1 absent)

1. Inglis - Champion Craigowl Billy Elliot. Reserve C.C. Outstanding dog of immense quality style and elegance. Particularly likes his head, good length of muzzle, there is nothing exaggerated or over done about him. Moved so well both coming and going, immaculately presented. When it came to the challenge, as the Duke of Wellington said "It was close run thing" and I felt Entertainer just had the edge on him.

2. Hughes - Loranka's Enchanting. Very glamourous dog ousing quality and presented to perfection. Not the usual type from this kennel, but lovely dark expressive eyes. Well made with good hind angulation and very nice size.

3. Allertons - Tramps Legacy.

Bred by Exhibitor 5 (no absent)

1. Bubb's - Champion Wandris Entertainer. I think plenty has been written about this dog already. Suffice to say, he did not disappoint in any way what so ever, C.C. and with the agreement of my co-judge. Best in Show.

2. Armitt's - Brasingamen Fire Opal. Good breed type with pleasing head, nicely constructed with good hind angulation. Well presented. I think the phrase 'unlucky to meet the winner' would be appropriate!

3. Ace's - Ashtelle Debonair.

Open 8 (1 absent)

1. Lymer & Scheidt' - Lymrey Hi Command. Outstanding masculine dog with particular good head and eye. So very well constructed, good neck and shoulders and strong well angulated hind quarters which he really used. Moved with real drive and kep his super outline. Up to size but in no way course or heavy, a real stallion of a dog, who could be very useful to the breed.

2. Baker's - Champion Keyingham Branwell. Entirely different type to winner, small with sweetest of heads. As with Entertainer, any further comments on thsi dog would seem superfluous. He just sparkles, but it was not his day today.

3. Rennard's - Deranmar Michael.
