Results and Critique from the Judge.

Northern King Charles Spaniel Club Limit Show
Saturday 23rd January 2010
I thank all the exhibitors for making my judging appointment very enjoyable, and the way my class decisions were accepted. I was judging as a Toy all rounder so my aim was to find a small, well balanced dog- conformation and movement my goal; large dark eyes with a gentle expression was my aim. I found the bitches a joy to judge and was splitting hairs in my decisions.

My thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at this extremely well organised, friendly show where the hospitality was first class. Thanks to my able steward Ian Sidgwick.

Well, if only this dog would keep four legs on the ground at once! He had to win on his overall quality and
breed type. In good coat and condition. Well filled head with soft expression dark eye and pigmentation- lost out to reserve best dog as he would not perform on the day.

Limit Dog (10, 2a)
1st Leach OUZLEWELL LORD CHAMBERLAIN
This dog looked well in outline with good reach of neck-moved out soundly may be a little proud of his tail
2nd Mowatt ASMENA THE MINSTREL
Loved his size, in wonderful coat and condition well off for bone—moved soundly just felt he was carrying too much weight at the moment which gave the impression of stuffiness on the front and neck
3rd Brooks MOONVALE FANCY THAT

Open Dog (2, 1a)
1st Halls CLOCKPELTERS THE VICEROY
Larger than I like good head and pigment very happy shower

Veteran Bitch (7, 0a)
1st Claydon RIPPLEOAK RIVER DANCER
This was a wonderful class so many lovely bitches wish I had more red cards also would have liked a vintage class as the 11 & 12 year olds had to give way to the younger ones which was a shame because every one in this class was a credit to their owners
The first was showing no sign of age in wonderful condition still moving with drive –lovely eye and head qualities –well bodied and bone -see she is the mother of my best in show dog which in its self is quite spectacular
2nd Scott TOSCAM MONTE LUCIA
I have judged this girl before, she has the most beautiful eyes, still as good as ever. Well marked coat in pristine condition, good body with well sprung ribcage. Moved very well both ways.
3rd Deans CLOCKPELTERS GUIDING STAR

Minor Puppy Bitch (6, 2a )Two very nice bitches headed this class.
1st Deans KILBARCHAN WHISPER WITH CLOCKPELTERS
Well marked tri bitch, pretty head and very pleasing expression. Good body and bone, level topline and moved with great ease for her handler.
2nd Whitfield BEVELMOUNT MONTANITA
Richly marked Blenheim with the most exquisite large dark eyes. A very close decision between first two as they both fitted the breed standard well.
3rd Mowatt MARIGILL MYSTERIOUS

Puppy Bitch (7, 0a)
1st Mochrie DOWNSBANK BLACK LACE
Mature B/T, excelling in body shape, level topline and correct tail set, rich tan markings. She portrayed a feminine bitch, lovely expression, she moved extremely well driving from behind with a good straight front. Must have a bright future. I will watch her with interest.
2nd Smith BEAUDALE BYE BYE LULLABY
Very attractive ruby bitch, slightly different shape to 1st, for perfection would have preferred slightly more leg length. Pleasing head with large, dark eyes and long well feathered ears, set on correctly. Moved easily around the ring.
3rd Deans KILBARCHAN WHISPER WITH CLOCKPELTERS

Junior Bitch (7, 0a)
1st Hurst & Wake LLUSTANT LUNAR BELLE
Gorgeous well marked Blenheim bitch, absolutely spot on for size. Level topline, moved easily with perfect head carriage. Just out of puppy but maturing very well. In the challenge for Best Bitch she had to give way to the older, more mature ruby, but I am certain she will have a very rosy future.
2nd Loynd CRIMBLEDALE WITCHCRAFT
Attractive B/T who excelled in body shape and coat condition. Rich tan markings in all the correct places. Slightly larger than first and needs more ringcraft to get the best out of her. Otherwise two lovely exhibits.
3rd Mochrie DOWNSBANK SUZIE COOPER

Maiden Bitch (5, 1a)
1st Cumberledge LESKARPRU OPHELIA CHERRY
Pretty blen just out of puppy, nice size with good head and eye. Moved freely around the ring. Nose pigment could be stronger
2nd Deans KILBARCHAN WHISPER TO CLOCKPELTERS
3rd Beattie BEAUDALE ENDLESS LOVE AT NORCREST

Novice Bitch (1, 1a)

Graduate Bitch (6,1a)
1st Tranter JOHNJO LADY MEGAN
Attractive small feminine Blenheim bitch. Good dark pigment, level topline, short cobby body with good spring of rib.
2nd Cumberledge LESKARPRU SNOW WHITE CHERRY
A lovely well marked Blenheim , another that I have judged before, still as attractive, mature in body level topline, her pigment again could have been stronger.
3rd Hindle RICKSBURY MELISSA

Post graduate Bitch Blen. Or Tri (3, 1a)
1st Whitfield BEVELMOUNT DELLAROSA
Very pretty blen, richly marked coat, super size attractive head with dark eyes and long ear feathering. Mature body holding a level topline on the move.
2nd Bull LADASH BRYONY
A slightly larger girl, who moved well. Well broken Blenheim, not a lot of coat but what she had was in excellent condition.

Post graduate Bitch Black & Tan or Ruby (4, 1a)
1st Smith BEAUDALE MADONNA LILY
Again judged this bitch as a youngster and still love her size, body shape and very attractive head and eyes. Coat a lovely rich colour, although not a lot of it today.
2nd Whitfield BEVELMOUNT RED RIBBONS
Another ruby but in a slightly larger frame. Again an attractive head and eyes with most pleasing of expressions. Moved well both ways.
3rd Loynd CRIMBLEDALE LAST CHANCE

Limit Bitch (6, 3a)
1st Deans CLOCKPELTERS CARLY SIMON
Very pleasing ruby with excellent eyes and dark pigment. Very well put together, moving with excellent drive.
2nd Hobbs SCOTLASS ANDANTE FOR BEACONSFLDYE
Well marked blen, with good body, very happy on the move. Pleasing head, long well feather ears and good nose pigmentation. More mature than 3rd.
3rd Tranter JOHNJO LADY MEGAN
Open Bitch(7, 2a)
1st Bailey ALBERICA COCORICCA AT ALDORICKA
Two beautiful rubies headed this class. Best bitch and Reserve B.I.S was this most attractive ruby, although slightly larger frame everything was in proportion. Broad skull, very attractive large, dark eyes and long ears. Good reach of neck and well placed shoulders, level topline and well turned stifles. Showed her heart out for her owner/ handler. Just loved her on the day.
2nd Deans CLOCKPELTER CARLY SIMON
3rd Whitfield ALBERICA FOCUS ON RED

Brace (3, 2a)
1st Smith BEAUDALE’s well matched rubies.
