Judges Critique

I would like to thank the Committee for the honour of inviting me to judge at their Open Show. My thanks also to stewards Karen Cumberledge and John Tranter for making sure that everything was running smoothly. Presentation in most cases was excellent and I had some super dogs to go over. I was a little surprised by the number of bad mouths in all age groups. I was looking for a happy well balanced Cavalier and was very pleased with my final line up. I very much enjoyed my day.

Veteran Dog (2)

1. Hall's Ashtower Ebony Silk B/T dog of 7 years. Presented in excellent condition with a shiny raven black coat. Masculine head with gentle expression. Good reach of neck flowing into level top line and correct tail set. Moved well .
2. Walker's Kingleholme Encore SH CM
Richly marked Blenheim dog of 8 years. Nice size, he moved well enjoying his day.

Special Vintage Dog (1)

1. Marshall's Greenhow Goldreef Blenheim dog of 11 years. Gentle expression with a round dark eye. Nicely marked, short coupled and moved well.

Minor Puppy Dog (1)

1. Renaud's Ellenaud Freddie Mercury Blenheim puppy of 6 months. Masculine head of good proportions, the darkest of pigment and dark round eyes. Compact and well constructed. Very happy showman and lovely type.

Puppy Dog (1)

1. Kitson's Kadoogels Captain Scarlet Ruby puppy of 9 months. Attractive head and good ear set. Correct lay of shoulder, level top line and turn of stifle. Unsettled so difficult to assess movement.

Junior Dog (4, 1ab)

1. Claydon's Brymarden Carolina Sunrise Blenheim dog with the most handsome expression and lustrous eyes. Flat skull, well placed ears, tapered muzzle and excellent pigmentation . Moderate neck, well ribbed and level top line which he kept at all times. Good muscle tone in hindquarters. Moved with vitality, covering the ground effortlessly. A real toy spaniel presented in tip top condition. I was pleased to award him BD and BIS.
2. Beattie's Brymarden Carolina Sunset for Norcrest Heavier marked Blenheim, brother to 1st. Gentle expression with good ear set. Sort coupled and nicely made, just needs a little more schooling.

2. Smith's Beaudale Little Ted Compact Ruby dog. Pretty but masculine head framed by well feathered ears. Excellent pigment, and huge dark eyes. Ideal size, short coupled and good spring of rib. Moved stylishly with drive.

2. Hamill's Craebeck Scrumpy Jack Well presented Ruby dog with rich silky coat. Pleasing head, good neck, level top line and well angulated.

Graduate Dog (6)

1. Walker's Chantismere Charade Kayceekay Blenheim dog with correct head, attractive markings and soft expression. Darkest of pigment and moderate reach of neck. Well balanced, moving with drive and confidence.
2. Gilbert's Sweetbriar Mr. Darce Pretty Blenheim dog, broad skull with good reach of neck and angulations. Nicely made. Moved well. Silky coat of good texture.

1. Renaud's Toryalac Denton Neat Blenheim dog with gentle expression and dark round eye. Nice head proportions and ear set. Well balanced with good front and rear angulations. Straight silky coat. Moved well.
2. Bacon's Timbric High Flyer Well presented Blenheim dog with soft expression and dark lustrous eyes. Nicely marked with rich tan. Longer cast than 1st. Sadly he wasn't really enjoying his day.

1. Crossley's Ispahan Sea the Stars Handsome Blenheim dog. Strong masculine head with attractive markings. Large dark eyes and good pigment. Well off for bone, good spring of rib, excellent top line and tail carriage. Moved with drive covering the ground well. Superb make and shape.
2. Brown's Loranka's The Way Forward
Blenheim with pleasing expression and well tapered muzzle. Excellent reach of neck and shoulder placement. Nicely balanced, looking good in profile and on the move.

1. Rogerson's Rabymar Super Ted A quality ruby Lovely head and expression with limpid dark eyes framed by well set ears and a broad flat skull. Good reach of neck, lay of shoulders, and short coupled. Well angulated hind quarters. Richly coloured with correct textured straight coat superbly presented. Moved with drive. RBD & RBIS

2. Mangham's Garlouchi Just Magic of Charnavale
Blenheim with masculine head with well cushioned muzzle and soft expression. Good size with just the right amount of bone. Well presented with a wealth of coat.
3. Greenhalgh's Verheyen Apache at Lacervali

Veteran Bitch (2)

1. Turnbull's Peakdown Penny Layne Beautiful compact Blenheim bitch of 7 years. Pretty in head with limpid eyes and well filled muzzle. Good fore and hind quarters. Moved stylishly keeping level top line on the move and when standing. Correctly marked coat shown in pristine condition. I just loved her. BV
2. Lunam's Brasingamen Rough Quest to Tingewood B/T bitch of 7 years. Good pigment with dark eyes. Gleaming dark raven coat with good tan. Excellent reach of neck, level top line. Moved well.

Special Vintage Bitch (3, 1ab)

1. Claydon's Rippleoak River Dancer Well marked Blenheim of 13 years. So much has been said about this bitch and it is a credit to her owners that she can be shown in such wonderful condition. Beautiful head with lovely dark round eye and good pigment. Superb neck and shoulders. So well made and sound, she moved positively round the ring. BSV
2. Kitson's Kadoogels Could it be Magic Tricolour of 10 1/2. Nice size and shape. Attractive head and excellent pigment. Moved well, attentive to handler.

Minor Puppy Bitch (1)

1. Hurst & Wake's Llustant Milky Way Blenheim puppy of 7 months. Pretty head with gentle expression. Good pigment, width of skull and round dark eyes. Arched neck, level top line, short coupled and nice angles. Moved well. A promising puppy.

Puppy Bitch (3, 1ab)

1. Smith's Beaudale Bo Peep Super Ruby bitch. Dark expressive eyes, broad skull and tapered muzzle. Neat compact shape with ideal proportions and good angles. Rich chestnut coat in excellent condition. Lovely type. BPIS
2. Brown's Itsadodal Tennyson Pretty well made Blenheim girl with good bone for her size. Moved soundly holding a level top line at all times and excellent tail carriage.

Junior Bitch (6, 2ab)

1. Engel's Angel's Pride Calamity Jane Happy Blenheim bitch. Gentle expression with large melting eyes. Arched neck, level top line and good rear angulation. Well presented.
2. Crane's Cranvarl Love Story Very pretty headed Blenheim. Lovely expressive eyes, excellent pigmentation. Super reach of neck, top line and tail set. Moved well keeping a perfect top line. Slightly longer cast than 1st.
3. Greenhalgh's Callyspride Heavenly Star for Lacervali
4. Lee's Rossyn Treasured Memories at Kelrick

Maiden Bitch (2)

1. Dixon's Ladash Tiny Dancer at Janazca Well marked Tricolour with sweet expression and dark eyes. Short coupled and in full coat. Happy show girl. Moved well.
2. Loynd's Crimbedale Remember Me Lovely B/T, pretty with dark eyes and good pigment, rich tan and raven black coat, nice size, moved OK.

Attractive Blenheim with large dark eyes, good pigment, broad skull and well feathered ears. A compact shape with the richest of markings. Sadly she didn't look happy on the move today.

1. Callaghan/Todd's Tillashby Northern Star at Callyspride Exquisite Blenheim, with soft melting expression and eyes full of lustre. So feminine with a compact shape, crested neck and balanced outline. Moved positively with grace. Well presented and full of breed type. RBB
2. Crossley's Chichory Fairy V'te Burgstse Hof
A very sound Blenheim bitch. Attractive head with good width of skull and well spaced eyes. Excellent neck, shoulders and rear angulation. Moved with drive - one of the best movers of the day.

1. Turnbull's Lochbuie Evettte at Peakdowns Beautiful compact Blenheim bitch with classic head, dark round eyes and the deepest of pigment. Lovely temperament and so well balanced. Moderate reach of neck with shoulders well laid back. She flowed around the ring with an easy action. Totally unexaggerated throughout. BB & BOSIS

Pretty Blenheim bitch with gentle expression and dark eyes. Nicely marked with rich tan. Well sprung rib. Moved well.

A difficult class with three very different types.
1. Bailey's Aldoricka Holly Berry Short coupled B/T with sweet expression and dark eyes. Deep raven coat and good tan, very well presented. Moved well.
2. Kitson's Harana Queen Rocks Kadoogels Attractive B/T bitch with good reach of neck and shoulder placement. Excellent presentation.
3. Wilkinson's Crimbledale Valantine Girl at Faircharm
