Judges Critique

Firstly I would like to thank the Officers and Committee most sincerely for giving me the honour of judging their Open Show and also for their hospitality. I would also like to thank the exhibitors who came under me and a very special thank you to my two stewards who were very efficient and looked after me. It was a pleasure to go over the dogs and there were some real class ones. My one real concern and disappointment, is that we have too many dogs with poor tailsets and far too many gay tails, we really must address this before it is too late.

This smart 10 month old blenheim boy took my eye straight away. He had a rich chestnut pigment, stood four square and was fixed on his handler. A pleasing head with large dark eyes, good reach of neck, a level top line with a good shaped body. Open (2, 0) This was one of my most difficult classes to judge because both dogs have class and quality.

1st Knight’s Carolus Don Ricco JW ShCM
I have admired this handsome heavily marked blenheim dog since he first time stepped into the ring. He has a fabulous head with a flat scull, good ear carriage, large dark eyes, dense nose pigmentation, good reach of neck leading into a level topline and tailset. His rich chestnut coat glissened as he moved around the ring with drive and style. He won BD and then in the challenge, went on to be my well deserved BIS winner.
2nd Rogerson’s Rabymar Super Ted
I have also always admired this very handsome rich red ruby dog who has my type of head. He was presented and shown well and has all of the qualities of my winner but on the day I preferred the blenheim. He won RBD. and I just could not ignore this lovely boy and awarded him RBIS.
