CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW RESULTS

SUNDAY 5th August, 2012

BITCH JUDGE : MRS. TINA HOMES (Leogem)

JUDGES CRITIQUE

I really enjoyed my day, even if I had to rise at some unearthly silly o’clock to accommodate the time needed to arrive sane, fit and on time to judge.
The Committee and Officers made me most welcome and the eats and drinks were most appreciated. My ring stewards made for an easy time whilst officiating, and I thank them for their help and efficiency for keeping things running smoothly. Arranging a two day extravaganza is indeed time consuming. Show committees worry that everything will go to plan and that nothing has been overlooked. We forget that the show is not just a window of time on the day that we all arrive, unload our cars with dogs, show trolleys and all the gear that accompanies us. Committees work very hard in the unseen times. We should be thankful that there are dedicated teams of people who are willing to work in their spare time for our enjoyment. Three cheers to them all.
I should also like to thank all those exhibitors who brought their girls for me to assess.
When the rains came I was beginning to think we were returning to the days of Noah! The exhibitors took with grace and good humour my desire to see the dogs move outside, rather than try to move within the cramped conditions inside. The grass was very wet and swampy in places. The show preparation was appreciated and in spite of the adverse weather conditions the dogs were so well presented. Some dogs did tip toe a little, but knowing how our breed seem to dislike wet conditions I took this into consideration. I really felt that trying to assess movement within the confines of the tent would have been non- productive. I like to see well balanced exhibits with good construction and sound movement, as well as pretty faces.

Veteran Bitch . ( 5)
1st Claydon’s Ch Brymarden Moon River. I have judged this bitch a little while ago and at 8.5 years this well marked blen still maintains a lovely outline. Short backed with moderate bone. Dark eyes and pigment. Straight silky coat with a sound happy gait. 2nd McMurray’s Merryoth Maeve 8 year Tri very similar in outline nice angles all through. Pretty head and expression. Another with straight silky coat. Great condition. 3rd Richardson’s Kringleholme Applause.

Vintage Bitch. ( 3 )
1st Claydon’s Rippleoak River Dancer 11 year old blen with a very dark eye and good pigment. Has a wealth of coat which was straight and silky. 1st Bayliss’s Castlewych Painted Lady. Loved the outline on this richly marked Blenheim. With a coat of good quality. Pretty head with dark round eyes giving a soft expression. Well set and fringed ears. Moderate bone throughout. Good topline and tailset. This little girl really moved with drive, striding purposefully and with great style. I was so pleased that my co-judge agreed that she should go Best Puppy in Show. 2nd Water’s Angels Pride Valerie (Deu Imp) Very similar to winner.
Well proportioned foreface to topskull, nice eye and rich pigment. Front a little loose at present, but she is young. Firm topline with well carried tail. Moved very well. 3rd Chapman’s Ellemich Exclamation.

Junior Bitch ( 15 )
Three lovely bitches, which could easily have changed places. 1st Maclaine’s Lochbuie Taken as Red.
I should imagine when her owner breeder first saw her in the nest, it was like manna from heaven. Ruby with the richest colour. Good proportioned headpiece with well set and fringed ears dark pigment on nose leather and dark well spaced eyes. Firm topline and tail carriage. Well ribbed with good quarters. Slightly awkward age at present with the start of the dreaded junior moult leaving her a trifle short on furnishings, but what she has is of good quality. Lovely girl.

Well set ears with good fringing of excellent colour. Moderate bone, well made front and rear quarters. Good topline and tai lcarriage. With a little more time and maturity should hit the big time. 2nd Koster’s Montcolly Dottie Harana. Well made short coupled blen. Attractive head shape framed by well fringed leathers. Very pretty headed little girl with large round dark eyes and dark nose pigment. Such a cheeky countenance she has a good topline and tailset all under a very well marked blen jacket. She showed well, just not so positive in hind action as winner

Limit Bitch (13)
This was a lovely class, lst Claydon’s Brymarden Carolina Moon JW Absolutely un-exaggerated in any way. Beautifully proportioned headpiece. Broad flat skull with tapered muzzle. Large round dark eyes with the required fill underneath. Darkly pigmented nose leather, good neck with well placed shoulder. Good rib, correct bone. This little girl does have a good topline, but her markings tend to detract which can make her look as though she dips behind the shoulder. I loved her, she moved effortlessly around the ring, and I was delighted to award her the CC. Looking at my catalogue I see that both my Veteran and Vintage winners are Dam and Grand Dam respectively to this bitch. What a grand day their owners had today. 2nd Ackroyd’s Toraylac Perfect Passion. Well broken and richly marked blen on pearly white ground straight silky coat. Broad top skull dark well placed eye slightly shorter in foreface. Well fringed high set ears. Good neck into well placed shoulders firm and level topline and correctly set on tail. Sp. Open Blen Bitchm ( 8 )
1st Surman’s Cavaliegh Jaida with Vallender. This bitch is deceptive. When you look at her across the ring you think she is heavy, until you get your hands on her. She has such a profuse well marked coat with a rich chestnut pattern. Underneath she is correctly boned and refined. She has a delightful head, nice eyes which are dark and round. Good pigmentation on nose and lips. Well hung ears, good neck into well placed shoulder good rib short couplings, good topline and tailset. On the move she has a lovely head carriage with her tail flowing straight off her backline. I shortlisted her today. Her special day will come. 2nd Hughes’ Ch Loranka’s Touching Heaven JW. Another smart blen, short coupled, rich colour lovely head and eye. Soft expression stylish mover. 3rd Scott’s Lorphil Lalibertie.

Sp. Open Tri Bitch ( 3 )

She has the most delicious expression coming from those large round dark eyes. Almost flat top skull accentuated by high set on ears which are heavily fringed. Nicely tapered muzzle. Proud head carriage. Correct bone for size. Good topline and tailset. All finished with a well patterned coat. she moves with elegance and style. 2nd Ireland’s Charnel Montage. Another bitch so full of breed type. Lovely head large expressive and darkest of eyes, black nose pigment, eye rims and lip line. Good neck and shoulder placement. Moved and showed to advantage. 3rd Waddington’s Spindlepoint Babich JW.

Open Bitch ( 4)

Hughes’ Ch Loranka’s Sherrie Baby JW. There is no need for me to introduce this attractively marked Tri. She has the most beautifully proportioned headpiece. Enough to take your heart.
I cannot possibly add anything further to what has already been written, than to say she is the type we all aspire to breed. Now the breed’s all time top winning female.
Her owner breeder has to be one proud lady to have attained so much with her. I commend her for her ability to continue to show this dog through her show days and always putting her down in first class order. To keep any exhibit at this level is no mean feat. I was pleased to be able to handle this bitch and can understand why she has accumulated all the accolades that she has. Res. CC
2nd Chapman’s Ch Ellemich Aurora JW Another good headed blen . longer caster than winner. Has darkest of pigment and eyes. Keen steady mover. Well handled. Very attentive to handler. Coat a little on the blow, but overall a lovely exhibit.
