CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW RESULTS

SUNDAY 8th AUGUST, 2004

STAFFORD

Bitch Judge:- MRS. GILL BAKER (NEVHILL)

I would like to thank the committee of The Northern Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club for inviting me to judge the championship show. I found a great welcome from the committee awaiting me and what a surprise to have drawn such a high and quality entry. I felt a little over whelmed by it! Thank you!

The weather was great but there had to be a down side to the day and that being the very high standard and quality of bitches. I was saddened to see some of the lovely exhibits leave the ring cardless. Alas I am sure that I could have judged the same bitches another day and many would have changed places, they were brilliant.

On the day I was so pleased with my class placings and I felt very lucky to have had the opportunity to get hands on so many pleasing exhibits.

Thank you.

Gill Baker

1st Payne's Myhope Follow that Dream - A delightful and very lively black & tan of ten years. Who'd believe her age? Small and compact with good tan for her age. Pretty appealing head and expression. Good topline, short body with plenty of rib. Just out of coat today but has nothing to hide. Very extrovert, took the ring with such confidence. She won me over. Moved so well and she has quite a character. 2nd Beattie's Phylmars Pearly Queen at Norcrest - Another small black & tan of eight years. Pleasing exhibit, well put together here, again good tan and with plenty of coat. In good condition. Another oldie enjoying a day out. 3rd Jones' Timsay Miss Jocasta.

B.P.B. and B.P.I.S. 2nd Barker's Kaishmar Cara Mai Mine - A well broken blenheim who was unlucky to meet the 1st today. What I call a chunky puppy. Very pretty head with appealing eye and expression. Good neck and shoulders. Good front and good bone with a well balanced body. Very pleasing on the move and plenty of confidence with it. In really good coat for one so young and presented beautifully. Will change places with 1st at times I'm sure. 3rd Savage's Lymrey Sweet Memories.

Class 17 - Puppy Bitch (38 entries)

1st Inglis' Craigowl Bilberry - Heavier marked tri with a pretty appealing head and eye. Very rich tan, good bone, good front and has plenty of body. She has the correct turn of stifle and has a good tail set. A very feminine exhibit with a coat that felt and looked like silk. Moved really well and with such confidence. Plenty of personality here and was thoroughly enjoying herself. 2nd Taylor's Rossrea Broadway Baby - Well marked pretty blenheim with pleasing head and expression. Good colour, small and nicely balanced throughout. Good short hocks and another with good tail carriage. Moved so well showing all the time. 1st Goodwin's Lanola Salsa - My notes say "WHAT A CRACKER!" and so she is. Blenheim of lovely size with rich colour markings from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail, she has the quality for me. Pretty head and eye, lovely pigment, good neck and correct layback of shoulder. Good top line and tail carriage. All round good conformation. Not carrying her full coat today but you could see the good all round profile of her when standing. Moved really well and had a hint of mischief about her today. Shortlisted for further honours which no doubt will come her way many times when she matures a little more. 2nd Steele's Behbre Mystique - Blenheim of lovely size who is also very pretty with an eye catching expression. Also of good conformation, lovely eyes, good pigment. Nice reach of neck, correct shoulders, top line and tail carriage. Looked lovely when standing and moved really well. 1st Water's Maibee Delores - Smart Blenheim with the prettiest of expressions. Good dark eye, plenty of bone, good top line, lovely size. She had a very pleasing head framed with good ear leathers. Moved confidently round the ring. Her time will come I'm sure for higher honours. 2nd Inglis' Craigowl Columbia - Another pretty tri from this well known kennel. Of lovely size, pretty head, well placed ears and shoulders, well bodied and with good bone. Again this lovely silky textured coat. Presented so beautifully. 1st Sansom's Byermoor Queen's English - Small sized blenheim with heavier markings. Pretty head and eye giving a pleasing expression. Good arch of neck, good front, compact body with a good top line. A well schooled youngster. 2nd Hallis Tasset Sweet Affair - Very pleasing blenheim with a nice head and lovely eyes giving a sweet gentle expression. Small compact body with good rib cage and good bone. Good tail set and carried herself well on the move. Presented nicely. 3rd Mann's Turretbank Gabrielle at Lyndabelle.

Class 21 - Post Graduate Bitch (29 entries)

1st Scott's Toscam Monte Lucia - A bitch of very pleasing quality. Not having seen this bitch before I was pleasantly surprised to find her. Where has she been! Well broken markings this blenheim of super type has the prettiest of head framed by lovely long high set ears. Hugh dark eyes and excellent pigment. So well put together with a neat sound body and good hindquarters. Moved so well keeping a good top line as one would expect from the conformation. A little more zest from the handler and I'm sure they will his the jackpot, so to speak! Considered her for the final line up but she had given up by then. I would have loved to have brought her home with me! 2nd Powells' Newroyds Shakira Margarieth - Another blenheim with broken markings. Lovely head with appealing large eyes and excellent pigment. Well placed ears with good neck and shoulders, had plenty of rib cage too. Just carrying a little too much weight on the shoulders today and needs a little more coat to finish the picture. Moved well and presented in good condition. 3rd Wilson's Lichens Tartan Flame.

Class 22 - Limit Bitch (22 entries)

1st Turnbull's Peakdowns Caprice - Blenheim with pleasing markings and lovely correct size. Nice head with a pretty expression and good pigment. Well set ears, compact well balanced body, good front and rib cage. Sound hindquarters and nice short hocks. A very pleasing exhibit with the personality to go with it. Class 24 - Special Open Ruby Bitch (9 entries)

1st Koster's Harana Good Golly Miss Molly - What a lovely name for a lovely bitch. This young lady kept drawing my eye to her like a magnet. A compact bitch of correct type. A lovely head framed with good ears and placings. Large expressive eyes, correct muzzle and good head carriage with well laid shoulders. Good front with the correct amount of rib. Level top line leading to sound hindquarters. Good turn of stifle and nice short hocks. In my notes I see I have written "a bitch with lots of attitude, never stopped showing and at one with her handler all the time". For me she was miss personality plus! I just loved her. Just coming in to coat but had nothing to hide. Took the ring with such confidence, moved soundly and effortlessly. I don't think she could have stood wrongly if she had tried. Such an outline when standing. Later when in the challenge I kept thinking that I would have liked a little more coat and more tail feathering but decided that she had so many good points and the feathering will comeback. My CC winner and a credit to her breeders and owner. 2nd Hughes Loranka's Star Surprise - Lovely sized with rich chestnut coat. Pretty head with lovely dark eyes, not dissimilar to 1st in make. In lovely condition and presentation. Moved well but did not put 100% into showing today. Maybe the heat? One any kennel would be proud to own. 3rd Wilson's Lichens Tartan Flame.

Class 25 - Special Open Blenheim Bitch (12 entries)

1st Vell & Towse's Miletree Classic Dream Cinder Ice - Where has this lovely bitch been. Like so many of my winners today I have not seen her before, so I was very pleased to find another lovely specimen of the breed. Small compact lady of lovely type. Very pleasing head and eye, pleasing expression, good neck and shoulders. She has correct body and good tail set. Eye catching markings and moved so well, showing her lovely top line. In her class seamed to be enjoying herself but in the challenge just lost her nerve due to her handler being nervous. I'm sure this may have affected the bitch. Can hold her own with the best of them. 2nd Lymer & Scheidt's Lymrey Sweet Dream - As her name suggests, sweet she is. Another lovely bitch full of quality. Very pretty head with correct ear placing. Nice expressive eyes, short compact body with a lovely top line. Such a happy girl with a good temperament, enjoying her day out. Out of coat today a long with so many other bitches but still one could admire the conformation and outline. Once settled moved well. I liked this one too. 3rd Levy & Sidgwick's Ch. Pascavale Krystle.

1st Hill & Webber's Montcolly Trinny - Heavy marked tri with a pleasing head and large eyes. Good bone, good reach of neck and good shoulders with a lovely top line. Well constructed hindquarters which showed as she moved so freely round the ring, keeping her head held high. In lovely coat and condition and so well schooled. 2nd Batliss's Miskhill Boijolais at Castlewytch - A pleasing well broken tri of nice compact size. Sweetest expression, have judged her before and felt she was not putting her best front forward today. Perhaps the heat. Lovely shape and nicely balanced. Will have a better day I'm sure but a sound exhibit never the less. 3rd Searle's Stonepit Just a Gem.

Class 27 - Breeder's Bitch (7 entries)

1st Lymer's Lymrey Hi Fashion - Lovely typical toy spaniel size. Sweet young lady with large expressive eyes. Good ear placing and when she used them looked even more pleasing. Good bone, compact and well balanced. Just coming into coat and moved really well. Presented in lovely good condition. Plenty on nerve here and I'm sure will challenge the best as she matures. 2nd Water's Maibee Delightful - Another lovely type here. Correct type, pretty head and dark expressive eyes. Good bone, short body and good rib cage. Felt she was carrying a little too much weight today. Very outgoing with a lovely happy temperament. Could have put a little more into it today but was maybe feeling the heat. A good type to own. 3rd Perry's Rosemonde Vanity.

Class 28 - Open Bitch (9 entries)

1st Ackroyd-Gibson's Toraylac Deja Vu - Blenheim of lovely shape and size. Pretty head framed with good ear placings and leathers. Good pigment and front. Good top line with good turn of stifle. Presented nicely and in good condition. At one with her handler and moved with plenty of drive. Still showing plenty of enthusiasm at the end of the day. Good temperament too, a pleasing exhibit. 2nd Hughes Loranka's Summer Love. Nicely marked and of correct size. Pleasing head and eye, correct bone, good rib, body and sound hindquarters. Just not concentrating today. I think this one was certainly feeling the head. Moved well and presented in lovely condition. 3rd Baillie's Fyrnrose Secret Love.
